Egg freezing helps women who are not ready to be pregnant to retain their fertility and save it for the future. This technique greatly enhances the pregnancy rate in cancer patients, and women that are in their 40s, even 50s. It is due to the fact that they have high quality eggs which were preserved when they were young.
Similar to IVF, hormones will be used to induce ovulation, doctors will then extract the eggs. The whole process will take around 10 days, and the extract process will be conducted under insemination.
When patients are ready to utilize the eggs, they will be thawed, then the doctors will find out the healthiest egg for fertilization.
